Candidature — VP Events/VP événements

Hi everyone, my name is Benson, and I have had the privilege of serving as VP Events for the past two years. I hope to have the opportunity to be your VP Events again this upcoming year!

Over the past two years, I have shifted the focus of our events based on feedback obtained from ARM constituents, as well as past executives and representatives. We have had many frequent events throughout the year to increase attendance, and there have also been new event types to cater to the varied interests of our members. In addition, we have strived to keep events free or low-cost. Some of these new outings have included the Holiday Party, the Valentine’s Mixer, Bar/Pub nights, Cathcart Socials, and Arcade Night, and our upcoming Terrasse Events!

Beyond my contributions to the social side of ARM, I have also contributed to the ARM in multiple ways, serving on multiple committees (including Events/Wellness/Communications, Special Projects Funds, Board of Directors, and Governance). I have also pushed for new initiatives, such as the ARM Retreat (in conjunction with other executives) to improve handover and quality of inter-cohort projects, and the expansion of Special Projects Funds to include intramural sports.

If given the opportunity to be your VP Events next year, I will continue to organize events throughout the year that are fun, inclusive, varied, and free or affordable. I will also continue to contribute to the ARM to meet your needs as your union.

Bonjour à tous, je m’appelle Benson et j’ai eu le privilège d’occuper le poste de vice-président aux événements au cours des deux dernières années. J’espère avoir l’occasion d’être à nouveau votre vice-président aux événements cette année !

Au cours des deux dernières années, j’ai réorienté nos événements en fonction des commentaires recueillis auprès des membres de l’ARM, ainsi que des anciens dirigeants et représentants. Nous avons organisé de nombreux événements tout au long de l’année pour augmenter la participation, et nous avons également mis en place de nouveaux types d’événements pour répondre aux intérêts variés de nos membres. De plus, nous nous sommes efforcés de proposer des événements gratuits ou à faible coût. Parmi ces nouvelles sorties, on peut citer la fête des Fêtes, la soirée de la Saint-Valentin, les soirées dans les bars et pubs, les rencontres sociales à Cathcart, la soirée d’arcade, ainsi que nos prochains événements à la Terrasse !

Au-delà de ma contribution à la vie sociale de l’ARM, j’ai également apporté mon soutien à l’ARM de multiples façons, en siégeant à plusieurs comités (notamment Événements/Bien-être/Communications, Fonds pour les projets spéciaux, Conseil d’administration et Gouvernance). J'ai également encouragé de nouvelles initiatives, telles que la retraite de l'ARM (en collaboration avec d'autres dirigeants) pour améliorer la transition et la qualité des projets entre les cohortes, ainsi que l'élargissement du Fonds des projets spéciaux pour y inclure les sports intra-muros.

Si j’ai la chance d’être votre vice-président aux événements l’année prochaine, je continuerai d’organiser tout au long de l’année des activités amusantes, inclusives, variées et gratuites ou abordables. Je continuerai également à contribuer à l’ARM afin de répondre à vos besoins en tant que syndicat.
