Samuel Wilson

Candidature — VP CPEM (Physician resource planning)/ (planification des effectifs médicaux)

I’m Samuel Wilson, a PGY-2 resident in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology. Having served as a delegate for non-designated specialties at the ARM, attended all Board of Representatives meetings, and co-led the Pedagogical Affairs Subcommittee, I am seeking the position of Vice-President, Comité de planification des effectifs médicaux (CPEM [Physician Resource Planning]) to continue advocating for residents’ interests.

Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to represent residents at the FMRQ’s Comité des affaires pédagogiques — spécialités (CAP-S) and at the Royal College’s National Advisory Board for Competency by Design. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to thoughtful, practical advocacy on behalf of residents.

My priority as VP, CPEM would be to strengthen engagement with residency programs. I would like to visit more programs across McGill to offer presentations, including during Academic Half Days, that help residents become more familiar with building a career in Quebec and with the practical steps involved in obtaining a job after residency.

As the ARM representative to the FMRQ’s Comité de planification des effectifs médicaux, I will bring our members’ perspectives to discussions that shape the transition to practice. I value advocacy that is attentive to residents’ concerns, grounded in clear communication,  and focused on helping ensure that residents are well informed and well represented at  the provincial level.

My background in research, project management, and medical education has prepared me  to approach this role with care, organization, and clarity. I hope you will have confidence in  me to further represent you, and I look forward to working on your behalf in the year ahead.
