Candidature — VP Pedagogical Affairs, Family Medicine/

VP CAP-MF (affaires pédagogiques, médecine familiale)

Hello et bonjour à tous!

I see pedagogy as the intersection where learner safety, wellness, and the quality of our training come together. It shapes how we show up for our patients, and just as importantly, how we feel when we go home at the end of the day. When the curriculum, benchmarks, teaching team, and the resident voice are all aligned, our demanding work becomes sustainable.

My motivation for joining the ARM was to help give residents a voice, particularly those who might otherwise go unheard. I’ve taken an active role as a Family Medicine Delegate, attending FMRQ ADD conferences and serving on the Governance and Continuous Improvement committees, and have had the chance to see how these systems function.

Working as an ARM delegate, one thing became clear: the underlying policies governing our training as residents can help us flourish or, at times, pose obstacles. I see a role for CAP-FM as a position that helps level the playing field.

I believe trust is a core part of this role. I am approachable and accessible, especially in situations where residents feel vulnerable, while taking an inclusive approach and helping to behaviorally model a safe space. A commitment to discretion is essential, particularly around evaluations, promotions, or uncertainty in training. That’s what allows concerns to surface, while also creating space to recognize what’s working well - and what I bring to the table.

I see my role as the CAP-FM as a conduit in that space, helping translate experiences into something constructive and actionable, while identifying where processes can be strengthened and voices better represented.

In short, I am a fierce advocate, grounded in a compassionate approach, hoping to serve you in prioritizing learner safety, equity, and accessible education.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Frank
