Julie-Anne Lemay

Candidature — Surgery & Surgical Subspecialty Representative

Hello, my name is Julie-Anne, and I am currently a PGY-4 resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have maintained a strong interest in leadership, advocacy, and collaborative engagement. These interests have motivated me to seek opportunities to represent and support my peers, ensuring their perspectives are heard and reflected in meaningful initiatives.

Over the past few years, I had the privilege of serving on the ARM as a Surgery and Surgical Subspecialties Representative. This role provided a valuable opportunity to connect with residents across surgical disciplines, gather their feedback, and better understand the challenges and opportunities that exist within our training programs. Through these conversations, I gained important insight into areas where improvements can be made to enhance the resident experience. Equally rewarding was the opportunity to work alongside the ARM Board, where I developed a deeper appreciation for the collaborative efforts required to advocate effectively for residents across all specialties and contribute to positive, system-level change.

I am seeking re-election as a Surgery and Surgical Subspecialties Representative because I remain deeply committed to advocating for my colleagues and supporting initiatives that promote resident well-being, education, and professional development. Building on the experience and relationships I developed during my previous term, I am confident in my ability to continue amplifying resident voices, bringing forward concerns, and working collaboratively to identify practical and lasting solutions.

In addition to advocating on behalf of residents, I am committed to maintaining open communication by sharing updates and outcomes from ARM initiatives so that colleagues remain informed and can benefit from changes that impact their training and practice. I look forward to continuing to engage with residents across surgical programs, strengthening connections within our community, and contributing thoughtfully and effectively to the ongoing work of ARM.

Thank you,

Julie-Anne Lemay, MDCM
