Jessica Matschek
Candidature — Representative for other specialties
Hello,
My name is Jessica, and I am an R1 in Nuclear Medicine. I am excited to be running as the representative for the Non-Designated Specialties category on the ARM.
Throughout my training, I have sought opportunities to contribute to my community and advocate for my peers. Whether promoting sexual health and consent through McGill’s OSVRSE or founding an initiative to coordinate the shipment of medical supplies from Montreal to Sierra Leone, these experiences strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. During medical school, I remained actively involved in student associations, where I learned the importance of listening to diverse perspectives and translating concerns into meaningful action. These experiences taught me that effective representation starts with listening, being approachable, and following through on residents’ concerns.
Residency is a rewarding but demanding stage of training, making strong resident representation more important than ever. Our perspectives should help shape the decisions that affect our training, working conditions, and well-being. If elected, I will keep residents informed about ARM initiatives and collective agreement negotiations while regularly seeking feedback to ensure the priorities and concerns of residents in non-designated specialties are heard and reflected in ARM discussions.
It would be a privilege to serve as your representative. I am committed to being accessible, communicating openly, and advocating for the issues that matter most to our community.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Jessica Matschek
