Elias Jabbour

Candidature — Representative: Medical Specialties and Subspecialties

Hi everyone!

My name is Elias Jabbour, I am a first-year Pediatrics resident at McGill, and I am excited to put my name forward for Academic Representative.

Throughout my previous training, I had the opportunity to contribute to trainee academic initiatives through leadership and advocacy, serving as both an undergraduate student executive and a post-graduate student representative

Through these experiences, I learned that meaningful improvements come not only from curriculums and clinical experiences, but also from the learners whose voices help shape and strengthen them.

Residency is a unique period of training that requires constant balancing of clinical responsibility while remaining both a learner and a mentor. For this reason, having accessible channels for residents to share their experience, understand their rights, and feel confident that their perspectives contribute meaningfully to change is essential. It is with this belief, and a commitment to strengthening resident voice, that I present my candidacy as an Academic Representative.

Across previous representative experiences, I have witnessed and hope to carry with me the value of listening carefully and working collaboratively toward shared goals.

As I begin residency in Pediatrics at McGill, I hope to help foster a culture of openness, inclusivity, and collaboration where residents feel comfortable sharing their perspectives and confident that their voices are heard. It would be a privilege to represent my peers and work alongside faculty and fellow residents to strengthen our educational experience.
