Candidature — Representative: Medical Specialties and Subspecialties

I am excited to apply for the ARM Resident Representative position because I am passionate about resident advocacy and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Throughout medical school, I had the privilege of serving in several learner advocacy roles, most notably as President of the McGill Medical Students' Society and as Director of Student Affairs for the Black Medical Students' Association of Canada. These experiences reinforced the importance of listening to learners, representing diverse perspectives, and working collaboratively with students, faculty, and institutional leaders to address concerns and implement meaningful change. I learned that effective advocacy begins with being approachable, transparent, and accountable to the people you represent.

As an Internal Medicine resident, I hope to continue that commitment to advocacy. I want to be a representative who actively seeks input from residents, ensures their concerns are brought forward to the ARM Board, and communicates Board initiatives back to my colleagues. Whether the discussion involves education, wellness, equity, or the everyday challenges of residency, I believe residents deserve thoughtful and effective representation.

I also look forward to contributing to ARM committees and initiatives, working alongside residents from across specialties to strengthen our training environment and resident community.

It would be an honour to represent the Medical Specialties and Subspecialties category. I would bring enthusiasm, experience in learner advocacy, and a genuine commitment to listening, collaborating, and helping translate residents' priorities into meaningful action throughout the coming year.
