Candidature — Family Medicine Representative Delegate
Hello et bonjour à toutes et à tous,
I had the pleasure of serving as a Family Medicine Delegate last year, working with residents across different sites, teams, and levels of training. That flexibility is one of the great strengths of the role: it kept me close to residents' day-to-day realities while allowing me to contribute to broader discussions within the ARM and the FMRQ.
My motivation for joining the ARM was simple: to give residents a voice, especially those who might not feel heard. Through my work as a delegate, including my involvement in governance, continuous improvement committees, and the FMRQ, I have seen firsthand how decisions are made. In my experience, improving family medicine means moving the needle on expectations, feedback, and day-to-day workload, while making sure residents have the practical tools and structures to meet those expectations.
I see the delegate as both a liaison and a boots-on-the-ground representative: someone who listens, identifies shared concerns, brings them forward constructively, and makes sure important information flows clearly back to residents. This requires approachability, sound judgment, and respect for confidentiality. You need to know that you can raise concerns safely, that your trust will be honoured, and that you are not alone. Behind every delegate is a team and a wealth of resources ready to support you, whether the concern is academic, administrative, or personal.
That is why I am putting my name forward again. I hope to remain a trusted advisor, building on the conversations we are already having and giving you a clear way to bring your voice forward, with someone you already know has your back.
Sincerely,
Frank
