Candidature — Chief Residents/résidents-coordonnateurs

Saint Mary’s Hospital

Dear Members of the Selection Committee,

I am writing to express my interest in serving as the St. Mary’s Chief Representative to the Association of Residents at McGill (ARM). As a PGY-3 Orthopaedic Surgery resident, I have developed a strong appreciation for the importance of effective advocacy in shaping a supportive and sustainable training environment.

Throughout my training, I have sought opportunities to represent my peers, both locally and internationally. These experiences have taught me the value of clear communication, thoughtful listening, and accountability. I believe that meaningful representation requires not only voicing concerns, but also working collaboratively toward practical and achievable solutions.

Residents at St. Mary’s face a range of shared challenges, including workload demands, wellness, and access to resources. These issues directly impact both our training and the care we provide to patients. I am committed to ensuring that the perspectives of our residents are accurately represented within ARM and that feedback is communicated transparently and consistently.

If selected, I will focus on fostering open lines of communication, advocating for realistic improvements, and maintaining accountability to my colleagues. My goal is to contribute to an environment where residents feel supported, heard, and empowered.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Rheema Alfadhil
