Dear Co-Residents,

My name is Brandon, a PGY-3 in IM and the current MGH Chief Resident. Over the past year, I’ve worked hard as CR to help optimize our working conditions by collaborating with the MUHC Education Directorate.

Some highlights of this year’s work include:

    1. Now standardized schedule w/ increased frequency

  2. Facilitating resolution of a large issue with the state of the IM MGH resident lounge

    1. Secured a new call room on 15th floor for IM residents

  3. Advocating for residents around the new on-call meal system that was implemented by MUHC

    1. Now collecting feedback on new system

  4. Increased number of computers in the MGH clinical working areas + resident lounges

  5. Increased confidential document bins + linen baskets across the MGH

  6. Started standing quarterly meetings between MGH CR & Education Directorate to facilitate raising and follow-up of issues

  7. Liaised with education directorate re: orthopedic residents' concern of lack of lead jackets

  8. Site visit with PGME on Resident Appreciation Day + regular attendance at PGME Postgraduate Education Advisory Committee

  9. Multiple meetings with pharmacy department re: new prescription workflow for admissions & accreditation standards

As an incoming GIM fellow next year based at the MGH, I hope to continue serving in my position as Chief Resident. After 2 years as a CR, I have built the professional relationships necessary to navigate the MUHC/PGME administration effectively and facilitate quick resolution of issues.

I hope my track record has proven that I will do my best for you. If re-elected, I will continue to be accessible to you and advocate for us wherever I can.

Thank you for your consideration.
