Candidature — Chief Residents/résidents-coordonnateurs
Montreal Children’s Hospital
My dear resident colleagues,
I am applying for the position of Chief Resident at the Montreal Children’s Hospital with a lot of motivation, humility, and a very honest appreciation for what this role means.
As a current PGY3 pediatric resident, I have spent the last few years learning not only how the MCH works, but also how residents experience it. I have seen the hospital from many angles: as a learner, as a colleague, as pediatric program chief resident, and over the past year as ARM specialty delegate. These roles have taught me how important it is to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and advocate in a way that is both respectful and effective.
To me, the MCH chief resident is more than a title. It is the person residents should feel comfortable approaching when something is unclear, unfair, stressful, or simply annoying enough that it deserves to be fixed. It is also the person who can bring resident concerns to the hospital in a constructive way, while understanding the realities of clinical service, education, scheduling, and patient care.
I know this hospital well, including its strengths, its complexity, and its occasional talent for making simple things slightly complicated. I would be very happy to take on this role and help make the experience of pediatric residents, off-service residents, and rotating learners as smooth, fair, and positive as possible and I would do my best to make sure residents feel heard, supported, and represented.
Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
