Nissim Benizri
Candidature — Chief Residents/résidents-coordonnateurs
Jewish General Hospital
Dear colleagues,
I am writing to express my interest in being re-elected as your Chief Resident at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). Over the past year, I have had the privilege of serving in this role and, more importantly, of listening, understanding the real challenges residents face and working actively to address them in a meaningful and solution-driven way.
From the outset, my goal has been simple: to advocate for residents and to turn concerns into concrete improvements. Throughout the year, I have met with key stakeholders across the institution, from cafeteria services to hospital leadership, to ensure that resident voices are not only heard but acted upon.
Together, we have achieved several tangible improvements:
Implementation of reliable, on-call heated meal options, with ongoing efforts to improve accessibility for all residents, especially during off-hours when cafeteria services are limited
Advocacy efforts with hospital services to address day-to-day logistical challenges impacting resident experience
Helping with initiatives such as Resident Day “free coffee”
Active involvement in onboarding incoming residents, including the development of a structured orientation session (June 2026) to better support their transition into JGH
While I am proud of what we have accomplished, I strongly believe this is only the beginning. There remains significant opportunity to further improve key aspects of resident life, from call rooms and wellness resources to operational workflows and site-specific challenges.
The JGH is more than a hospital to me, it is a community that has shaped my training and identity as a physician. I know this sentiment is shared by many of you. As Chief Resident, I have prioritized being approachable, dependable, and present. I strive to build strong relationships with both residents and administration to ensure that advocacy leads to real change.
If re-elected, I will continue to work relentlessly to ensure that every resident feels supported, represented, and empowered. I am committed to building on the progress we’ve made and pushing forward initiatives that enhance both our training environment and our day-to-day experience.
It would be an honor to continue serving and giving back to this community as your Chief Resident for a second term.
Sincerely,
Nissim
