Rami Habib
President/ Président·e
Dear colleagues,
I seek your support in applying for the position of ARM President and hopefully acting as your resident association representative.
I believe I am the best fit for this role given my experience with the ARM during these last three years as a delegate, and most recently, as VP of academic affairs for specialties. During my mandates, I have familiarized myself with issues being discussed at various levels of residency training, namely at the Royal College as well as the provincial and university level. I have been an active ARM member, always defending residents’ interests. Notably, I am most familiar with academic issues including the implementation of ELAM (french course), promotion policies, and changes that are to come with CBD.
My experiences in the ARM have also given me the tools to understand the different portfolios we will have to manage. For union affairs, the challenge I foresee for the upcoming year is the implementation of the new collective agreement. Being familiar with PGME’s and the FMRQ’s processes, I will ensure our new rights are respected. When it comes to wellness, I want to continue offering a variety of social events and special project funding that help you have fun and unwind during residency.
To conclude, I have held many advocacy roles, such as President of my medical student society, where I acquired leadership skills I believe to be necessary for this very similar role. I have honed my ability to communicate opposing points on committees to help sway decisions in the residents' favor. By voting for me, you are choosing someone with relevant experience in the ARM, leadership skills, and motivation to continue improving our residency experience.
I hope to have your support and would be honored to be your future ARM President.
Thank you,
Rami Habib
