Nabeel Ahmed

VP, Finance (Treasurer)—V.-p., finances (trésorier·ère)

My name is Nabeel Ahmed and I am a current PGY1 in Internal Medicine. It is a pleasure to be applying for the position of VP Finance of the ARM.

I see this role as the opportunity to combine responsible financial oversight with a commitment to improving the resident experience, an intersection I have engaged with extensively through past leadership roles. I have served as the VP Finance for multiple organizations, including the MGH Internal Medicine Residents Association, the McGill Medical Students' Society – Outaouais Campus, and various medical school clubs. These positions involved significant financial responsibilities including budget planning and management of student funds.

Through these roles, I developed a foundation in budgeting, managing reimbursements, securing sponsorships, and organizing events. I understand the importance of transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in financial management, especially in an association of residents where our collective resources must support diverse needs across training sites and specialties. Specifically as the former VP finance of a satellite medical campus, I appreciate the differing needs of smaller programs.

I also look forward to collaborating with the VP Events to secure external sponsorships that will enhance our programming, and continue the tradition of successful events such as the ARM Gala. Moreover, I am confident in my ability to negotiate and collaborate with the McGill administration, the FMRQ, and other relevant stakeholders to help residents navigate inquiries pertaining to their personal finances.

Finally, beyond finances alone, I view this role as one of an active member of the ARM Executive Committee, contributing to broader discussions that shape the resident experience. I would be honoured to serve in this capacity and am committed to ensuring that our financial decisions reflect and support the priorities of all McGill residents.
