Khaled Assim Karkout
Candidature — VP, Union Affairs/V.-p., affaires syndicales
Dear colleagues;
My name is Khaled and I am a PGY4 in Medical Oncology I am eager to bring my experience, advocacy skills, and dedication to the role of VP Union Affairs at the Association of Residents of McGill (ARM). Throughout my residency, I have witnessed both the challenges and opportunities within our healthcare and training systems. This experience has fueled my passion for representing my peers, ensuring fair working conditions, and amplifying residents' voices in institutional decision-making.
My clinical training has equipped me with strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and organizational skills—qualities critical for effective union leadership. I have worked closely with multidisciplinary teams, advocating for patient care while understanding the systemic pressures residents face. If elected, my priorities will include:
- Strengthening communication between residents and administration to address concerns proactively.
- Advocating for improved working conditions, including call schedules, wellness resources, and equitable policies.
- Enhancing resident engagement through transparent and inclusive dialogue.
I am committed to fostering a unified, empowered residency community where every voice is heard. Together, we can drive meaningful change and ensure that McGill remains a leader in resident support and advocacy.
Thank you for your consideration. I would be honored to serve my fellow residents in this vital role.
Sincerely,
Khaled Karkout
